Long time no update. Here's the outtakes reel from the TV ad we shot for Gemini-award winning Noreen Young Productions. The ad will air on both CTV and A-Channel in late July. We won't put the ad up until it airs. We won't spoil the surprise! But it's funny.
Come the 14th, Skycron is coming to Ottawa -- well, I am (Cory), anyway. Skycron will be doing all the TV commercials, and press production/B-roll stuff for PuppetsUp! 2009. So I'll be going up to beautiful Almonte, Ontario to meet with Noreen Young and her staff at Noreen Young Productions to work out the logistics of the TV shoot. Then in May, our crews will go down and shoot them (which will include me.) and work on the animation.
Telus Mobility has also been kind enough to give me a shiny new HTC Touch Pro, so my trip to Ottawa (my hometown) seems to me the perfect opportunity to test the photoblogging system that we will be using for PuppetsUp! 2009. We have yet to get the Photoblog in the same page as this feed, but if you go to the Photoblog you will be able to see it.
Be sure to check the photoblog really frequently on April 14th, 15th and the 16th. I'll be updating the photoblog frequently from my phone, starting from the 7 AM on April 14th (since I'm boarding my train at that point) until the early evening, and all day on the 15th, starting at 11 AM.
Even though I'll be gone, the rest of the Skycron crew will be on the office of course.
A few changes, good citizens. So the basic structure of the Photoblog is working pretty well now. I'm actually awaiting (Cory) my HTC Touch Pro and the rest of my team is going to be using their cameraphones with this service. Basically, we're just configuring the blog and various scripts to work with our phones so that no matter where we are, may it be in Toronto, Montreal, Jakarta or Zimbabwe, a seamless one-touch posting thingamaboober is good to go.
For now, we'll keep up with the silly badly drawn cartoons because people have been contacting us saying they think they're funny. So we'll keep doing it. We'll periodically update concept art, pencil tests and various other interesting things.
Eventually what we want to do is set up a master RSS feed so the Photoblog and the main Test Pattern RSS feeds are consolidated within one page. When we have some time, we'll do that. But we're a production company, so we have to keep our TV and animation stuff prioritized first. But it'll happen. Keep checking back!
Okay, sports fans, the Photoblog/Moblog is up. Yes, that's right, folks. It's working. And linked up to this page, as you can see. The buttons aren't on the Photoblog itself yet, to take you back here, but should be shortly. Enjoy.
Twitter has been added by our resident twits. (Myself included.)
The photoblog has been built and is largely working, although it has NOT been linked to (at least officially) from this page just yet since we're still working on it. But if you just can't wait, and the sands of time beat wildly against your sense of patience by the moons of Zoink-wark 5, you can go and see it if you want here. Presented with a liberal case of bedhead.
Remember when your mother said patience was a virtue? Well, she's very disappointed in you. In fact, she's hanging her head in shame. Yeah, you heard me. No more cupcakes for you. Your lemonade stand has been liquidated. Punk.
Ahem.
Anyway, we hope to have the photoblog linked up here all nicey-nice (that's gonna be my new word) within a few days. Have fun kids.
We're going to be making a few changes to the Test Pattern to try and make things a bit more interesting around here (and daily updates).
For one thing, everybody at Skycron likes our jobs. So everybody is going to post -- Jon, Steph, Devin, myself (Cory) and all the other high-up mucky-mucks so you can see all the crazy stuff that goes on here. We're actually really nice people!
We all thought it would be fun to set up a photo blog so people can see some of the behind the scenes stuff of what we do, even if one of the crew guys (or me!) just takes lame-o cameraphone snaps on the set and just be a personal slice of what each person at Skycron is like.
Why, you ask, would we do something like that? And who is going to update?
The first thing we're gonna do is we're going to set up a photoblog, as you've probably guessed. The other thing is we'll have a gallery, all linked up all nicey-nice so it's easy to go through. So there will be much more frequent updates if we take a picture of something cool and use the smartphone to post instantly. And of course we'll still have Test Pattern episodes and Subbands as time permits.
We're hoping to do this within the next week or two as time permits given our schedule making TV shows and commercials and stuff.
We're also working with Z103.5 Toronto's Hit Music on a super-cool event and some other companies we can't mention yet...but ARTIST MD is most certainly relates to. More later.
